About Local 2924

Virginia Beach Professional Fire & EMS is the union for career firefighters and EMS providers in the city of Virginia Beach. We are Local 2924 of the International Association of Firefighters and are proudly affiliated with the Virginia Professional Firefighters and Virginia AFL-CIO. Local 2924 represents over 600 members in two departments and was chartered on December 20, 1983. We provide fire suppression, EMS, fire prevention, technical rescue, hazardous materials, and water rescue across 21 stations in the City of Virginia Beach.

Virginia Beach is home to 450,000 residents and is the 39th largest city in the United States. The city has a total area of 497 square miles, of which 249 are land and 248 is water.

Local 2924 partners with Vigilant Watch, Inc. which provides support for public safety officials and their families. Vigilant Watch, Inc. is dedicated to providing unwavering support to public safety officials and their families in the Hampton Roads and Eastern Shore regions of Virginia. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are committed to alleviating financial and physical hardships caused by injury, illness, catastrophic events or unforeseen circumstances. Through generous donations and community contributions, we offer financial assistance, advisory services, mental health counseling, and moral support to those who have dedicated their lives to protecting ours.
